This line of research explores the basic mechanisms underlying the cooperative expression of molecular chirality in molecular recognition events: formation of host-guest inclusion complexes and self-assembly processes. The primary objective is to efficiently synthesize chiral structures that act as molecular containers in the formation of Host / Guest complexes or as monomers in supramolecular systems by self-assembly processes. The chirality in both processes arises from the presence of intrinsic or induced chiral axes as a consequence of the effect of non-covalent intermolecular interactions.
