Jonathan Álvarez García

Jonathan is a PhD student integrated in the S3 group at the University of Vigo. His research focuses in the synthesis, characterization and study of chiroptical properties of allenophanes and alleno-acetilenic macrocycles using different molecules as spacers between allene and acetilenic moieties. Before that, he graduated in Chemistry by the University of Vigo in 2017 and one year later, he obtained his master’s degree in Organic Chemistry by the University of Valencia defending his thesis “Gold nanoparticles functionalized with cyclodextrins for the detection of neurotransmitters”.
Fernán Berride García
Fernán is a PhD student integrated in the S3 group at Universidade de Vigo. He obtained his degree in Chemistry in 2015 and his MSc in Chemical Research and Industrial Chemistry in 2016. His actual line of research is the rational design, molecular modelling, study and characterization of supramolecular entities based on π-π interactions, such as Lyotropic Chromonic Liquid Crystals and Low Molecular Weight OrganoGelators.
Marta Castiñeira Reis
Marta Castiñeira studied Chemistry at the University of Vigo (2008-2012), after finishing it she was awarded with the end of degree award given by the University of Vigo and also she received the same recognition at a regional level. She studied a master in Advanced Chemistry in this same university and after that, she embarked in developing her thesis. The topic of the thesis is the rational design of different reactions assisted by a computer. During this period in her career, she enjoyed two visits to universities abroad: to the UC Davis under the supervision of the professor D.J. Tantillo and the K.U. Leuven under the supervision of J.N. Harvey.
Fátima Garrido Fernández

Fátima graduated in chemistry at the University of Vigo and earned a Master’s degree in chemical research and industrial chemistry at the same University. She is currently working towards her PhD thesis as a predoctoral fellow from the University of Vigo.
Víctor Rubio Pisabarro

Víctor obtained his BSc degree in Chemistry at University of Salamanca in 2017. During his degree he joined the Síntesis de Biocompuestos, Organocatálisis and Amiduros group, where he performed the asymmetric synthesis of trisubstituted piperidones. He obtained his MSc degree in Organic Chemistry at Complutense University of Madrid in 2018. During his Master degree he joined the Medicinal Chemistry group at Lilly. At the moment he is a PhD student integrated in the S3 group at University of Vigo, where he is working in the enantioselective synthesis of allenophanes for molecular recognition.
Hugo Santalla García

Hugo graduated in Chemistry in 2015 at the University of Vigo, the following year he did a Master in Chemistry Research also at the same university. Right now he is doing his PhD “Synthesis of vitamin D and cholesterol analogues” and he is enjoying a PhD fellowship of the University of Vigo. His experience is focussed in total synthesis and the optimization of different methodologies in the field of organic chemistry.
Luís Carlos de Vicente Poutás
Carlos is a chemist who was graduated at the University of Vigo in 2015. He has obtained two master titles; one called “Master Internacional en Biomasa y bio-combustibles” by the Instituto Internacional de Formacion Ambiental (IIFA) which was issued in 2017 and other called “Theoretical chemistry and computational Modelling” issued by the University of Vigo in 2018. Nowadays he is working in his PhD based in gold chemistry applying theoretical techniques.
Ángel Vidal Vidal
Ángel Vidal is a PhD student integrated in the S3 group at Universidade de Vigo. He obtained the degree in Chemistry in 2015 and a MSc in Science and Chemical Technology (Physical Chemistry specialty) in 2016. His line of work currently focuses on the rational design and molecular modelling of new supramolecular compounds for the selective detection and removal of different environmental pollutants such as pesticides, CO2 or marine toxins.

Óscar Iglesias González

Óscar obtained his degree in Chemistry in the year 2018, and he hass been enrolled in the Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling master’s degree since then. He is currently studying suitable substrates to perform surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy on, and simulating the spectroscopy of marine toxins. He also participates in SXGQ, an association focused on scientific dissemination.
María Lago Silva

María obtained her B.Sc. in Chemistry (2018) at the University of Vigo. Currently, She is a M.Sc. student in Chemical Research and Industrial Chemistry at the same university. She is working on the synthesis and characterization of chiral structures, bearing stable diethynylallenes and nitrogen-heterocyles as the aromatic unit, that behave as molecular receptors in the formation of host-guest complexes with amonium salts whose chiroptical response is specific to the complex formation.
